Why Bergen County Homeowners Have Their Tennis Courts Professionally Cleaned

A residential tennis court is a major feature of a property, but constant exposure to New Jersey weather can gradually change its appearance. Seasonal moisture, humidity, falling leaves, pollen, dirt, and shade can encourage organic growth across the court surface.

Professional tennis court cleaning can help remove this buildup before it becomes more severe. Cleaning can also help homeowners maintain the visual appeal of the court and surrounding outdoor living areas.

Our tennis court cleaning service can help with:

• Black algae and organic staining
• Green algae buildup
• Moss growth
• Mold and mildew
• Dirt and grime
• Leaves and organic debris
• Pollen and seasonal buildup
• Surface discoloration
• Slippery organic growth

Rather than waiting until the court becomes heavily stained, periodic cleaning can help homeowners maintain a cleaner surface and address organic contaminants before they become more difficult to remove.

A Safer Approach to Cleaning Residential Tennis Courts

Not every pressure washing method is appropriate for residential courtstennis court. Using excessive pressure can potentially damage the surface coating, which is why the equipment and cleaning technique used are important.

Our approach combines professional surface cleaning with appropriate cleaning solutions to remove contaminants while reducing unnecessary pressure on the court surface. This allows us to address both visible dirt and the organic growth responsible for much of the black and green discoloration found on outdoor tennis courts.

The objective is not simply to blast away surface dirt. We want to clean the court thoroughly while helping homeowners protect their investment.

Tennis Court Cleaning FAQs

Question: What is the most effective and safest way to clean tennis courts?
Answer: A lot of tennis court cleaning companies use a handheld wand to clean tennis courts and they blast the tennis courts with high pressure inch by inch as they go. This process subjects the tennis court to a lot of unnecessary wear, can permanently damage the tennis court coating, and can shorten the life expectancy of the tennis court.

The safest way to clean a tennis court is to use a rotary surface cleaner. The rotary surface cleaner has two power washing heads on the inside that spin around at over 1000 RPM. This evenly power washes the tennis court and drastically reduces the amount of pressure needed to do so. After I power wash the tennis court using the rotary surface cleaner, I post treat the tennis court with a soap solution that kills the organism that makes the tennis court look black and dirty.

This soap solution brightens the tennis court, lifts the organic staining off of the surface coating, and makes the
tennis court look like a new tennis court. It also makes the tennis court cleaning job last six to eight times longer than traditional tennis Court pressure washing, because we are killing the organism that makes the tennis court black and dirty.

Question: How long does the tennis court cleaning job last?
Answer: There are three ways people clean tennis courts in our industry, pressure washing, soft washing, and doing both services as part of the process. Pressure washing typically lasts 3-4 months and needs to be redone every season. Soft washing normally lasts for about a year and it improves the appearance of the tennis court by about 80%.

Combining both tennis court cleaning services works best because you are pressure washing the dirt and organic material off of the surface and applying a soap solution to kill the organism that caused the tennis court to be black and dirty. It normally takes three to five years for the organic staining to start coming back using this process.  If the tennis court gets sun all day long, it may take four to six years for the organic
growth to return.

Question: Is the way you power wash tennis court safe for my plants?
Answer: One of the benefits of using Aqua Clean Power Washing LLC to clean your tennis court and the other areas around your home, is that I do all of my own work. I have had employees in the past and I had a ton of problems getting them to follow our company policies and procedures, especially our plant protection procedures.

Our plant protection process involves rinsing the plants with a lot of water, neutralizing soaps when needed, and treating the plants with a Miracle-Gro type of product at the end of the job. There’s always a risk of damaging plants, but this process and the fact that I have been power washing since 2011, drastically reduces the chance of having any issues.
